HRC Right to Information Trust Participates in the United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum 2025

The HRC Right to Information Trust, led by its Founder and Chairman Mr. Bolloju Shyam Kumar, proudly participated in the United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum 2025, held from 16th to 19th September 2025 at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok, Thailand.
The forum was organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and served as one of the most influential platforms in the Asia-Pacific region to promote responsible business conduct, corporate accountability, and human rights protection.
The four-day event brought together government representatives, civil society organizations, business leaders, and human rights defenders to discuss how businesses can operate ethically while respecting human dignity and promoting sustainable development.
Key themes discussed during the forum included:
- Strengthening corporate due diligence and preventing human rights violations in business operations.
- Encouraging inclusive economic growth through ethical governance and transparency.
- Building multi-stakeholder partnerships to advance the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Integrating human rights-based approaches into corporate strategies and public policies.
HRC Right to Information Trust’s participation reflects its dedication to ethical governance, transparency, and accountability — ensuring that social progress and business development go hand in hand with human rights protection.
During the sessions, Mr. Bolloju Shyam Kumar shared insights on the organization’s ongoing efforts in India, including child rights protection, women empowerment, anti-drug awareness campaigns, and social accountability initiatives. He emphasized that true progress is achieved when economic growth respects human rights and social justice.
The Trust’s involvement in this prestigious global forum underscores its growing international engagement and commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
HRC Right to Information Trust Represents India at the ASEAN–Germany “Human Rights at Sea” Workshop (UNCC, Bangkok)
Bangkok, Thailand — December 2–4, 2024:
The HRC Right to Information Trust, represented by its Founder and Chairman Mr. Bolloju Shyam Kumar, actively participated in the ASEAN–Germany Cooperation Project Workshop on “Human Rights at Sea.” The workshop, held at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok, brought together officials and human rights representatives from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste to discuss international standards and challenges in protecting seafarers, fishers, and other persons at sea.
This three-day program was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand with the generous support of the German Federal Foreign Office. The sessions focused on the successes, challenges, and policy gaps related to protecting persons working or displaced at sea — a key aspect of global human rights and ocean governance.
The opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Suchada Maktara, Director of the Political and Security Division (Department of ASEAN Affairs, MFA, Thailand), and Mr. Maximilian Müller, First Secretary & Political Counsellor, German Embassy to Thailand.
Throughout the workshop, research fellows and experts discussed critical themes such as:
- Jurisdiction under Law of the Sea and International Human Rights Law
- Protection of vulnerable persons at sea
- International collaboration for seafarers’ welfare
- Policy development for sustainable ocean governance
Distinguished speakers included Mr. Ben Harkins (ILO), Judge Kriangsak Kittichaisaree (ITLOS), Assistant Professor Dr. Thanapat Chatinakrob (Thammasat University), and Assistant Professor Dr. Naparat Kranrattanasuit (Mahidol University).
Mr. Bolloju Shyam Kumar shared insights on India’s NGO participation in promoting human rights, marine protection, and social responsibility, emphasizing the need for stronger international cooperation to ensure dignity and justice for persons at sea.
The HRC Right to Information Trust continues to represent India at major United Nations and ASEAN forums, highlighting its commitment to human rights, gender equality, child protection, and sustainable development.
HRC Right to Information Trust Participates in G20 Education & Digital Transformation Summit 2023

The HRC Right to Information Trust, represented by its Founder and Chairman Mr. Bolloju Shyam Kumar, proudly participated in the G20 Education and Digital Transformation Summit 2023, held on 20th and 21st May 2023 in Trivandrum, Kerala under the framework of the Civil 20 (C20) India 2023 initiative — one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20.
The summit brought together academicians, policymakers, civil society leaders, technology experts, and NGOs from across India and abroad to deliberate on the role of education and digital transformation in inclusive and sustainable development.
Key sessions focused on:
- Promoting digital literacy and access to education for all sections of society.
- Leveraging technology to bridge learning gaps and empower rural communities.
- Strengthening ethical use of artificial intelligence and data governance in education.
- Building collaborative global networks for innovation and skill development.
- As a discussant and participant, Mr. Bolloju Shyam Kumar shared insights on the Trust’s initiatives in:
- Providing digital awareness and child education programs in underprivileged communities.
- Conducting school and college-level awareness campaigns under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
- Promoting child rights and anti-child marriage campaigns to ensure safe and inclusive learning environments.
